Beautiful Magens Bay Beach is well known for its extremely clean environment and tourist attractions. National Geographic Magazine called it one of the top 10 most beautiful beaches in the world! Local legend says that Sir Francis Drake, a very famous pirate, used Magen's Bay as a hiding spot for his ships while he watched from a nearby hilltop for ships that he could raid. Later, the local sugar cane plantations used Magens Bay as a shipping point for sugar, molasses and rum. Later on, Magen's Beach was acquired by the Fairchild family and was named after a woman in their family, that’s right! Magen. Later in history, the Fairchilds donated Magens Bay to the people of the Virgin Islands for their enjoyment.
Life Guard service is provided from 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Sunday year round. On the southern and northern sides of the beach are rock formations in the water that provide good snorkeling.
